My wife and I are new to anal sex, but we've run into something. I've noticed that the normal hair arround her anus can be kinda rough as pubic hair can be, and this hair might be causing irritation. But we're not sure if it's a good idea to shave it off as that might make things worse (more irritation). Any advise for us noobs?

I've had my back end waxed and I have to agree with NYDeviant that it hurts less than the front for a Brazilian. The end result is very pleasing;)

That having been said I happen to alternate between waxing and trimming, myself. After discovering the ease of using my boyfriend's beard trimmer (conair) for my bikini line, I purchased one for myself. I like it because I can get a close shave while avoiding the sharp/irritating stage of early re-growth. The trimmer cuts it short enough to be pleasurable, neat, and tidy, but not short enough to have that awkward prickly stage (and ingrown hairs). I also find that I'm more comfortable using that around my butt since the angle is somewhat awkward and I'm trying to be careful not to knick myself-I feel less confident with the blade actually coming into contact with my skin back there.

I like to use the trimmer on my boyfriend too. If I'm careful it works well for his butt and all the rest too. Needless to say, he's very trusting!

the only real issue with waxing yourself is reaching and being able to see what you're doing. also, because you have to be in weird positions in order to be able to reach, it can be hard to pull the wax off.

i recommend using hot wax (i go back and forth about whether i prefer using the kind you need strips for and the kind that hardens and you pull off directly). i like Parissa wax, but that can be hard to find. also, be careful to not get any wax on your anus--especially hot wax!

Nair is a bit harsh to use on and around your genitals.

I have in the past used a product call Magic Powder. African American men use it on their beards since they are prone to ingrown hairs from shaving. Since the face is also a fairly sensitive area *I* haven't had problems with it. But *I* followed the directions for it. My wife on the other hand is as slow as molasses, and when the instructions say to get it off in five minutes they mean, GET IT OFF IN FIVE MINUTES. Or what ever the time was. Leave it on past the recommended time and you're risking a nice little burn. Which you can imagine is not fun to have on the genitals.
