Welcome to the debut of my blog! After years of keeping track of everyone else through their blogs (and, yes, LiveJournal), I have caved in-I have a blog! If you're reading this, you've obviously figured out that the site has been completely redesigned. I like to think of it as Extreme Makeover: PuckerUp Edition as a nod to one of my favorite guilty pleasures on TV, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. It was a ton of work, and the boy and I did a good chunk of it ourselves over the past few months. Exhausted does not begin to describe how I feel. But I am also really excited that the site is finally live. Plus, we've changed the entire backend software (try to resist giggling at the pun), so it means I will be able to add, update, and change things myself without having to rely on other people. That's right-I am the WebMistress of PuckerUp.com, so watch out!
As part of the makeover, we have formed partnerships with several new companies, including Cafe Press. The Cafe press Store, PuckerUp Gear, has cool T-shirts, mugs, boxer shorts, hoodies, and much more with our new logo and sex-positive messages. I'm psyched that they are done, so I can start buying and wearing my own swag!
In the midst of the site's makeover, other work hasn't stopped. For the last week, I've been working frantically on my 5th Annual Sexy Gift Guide for The Village Voice. That meant watching a ton of porn and trying out a bunch of sex toys. Okay, okay, that part was fun. People sent some really cool shit this year, which made me really excited. I tested out a bunch of new vibrators, with some mixed results. The Solar Vibe is what it sounds like-a solar-powered vibrator that gets its charge from the sun or a good light bulb. I like the idea of an environmentally-friendly sex toy, and the high speed on this one is not bad, but I'd recommend getting two-that way if one craps out at an important moment, you've got a back up. Trust me. Doc Johnson has this new booster for its i-vibe. They are packaged together, so you can use the i-vibe alone or plug it into the booster. The booster runs on four batteries, so I was prepared for it to ramp up the power in a good way. Instead, it offers you all these different kinds of vibration, which I am just not that into. I want a powerful steady vibration, not an intermittent one, or one that escalates from low to high repeatedly, or does other fancy tricks. On the porn side, we watched a fun Shane's World video, and I really loved Suze Randall's Undressed and Oversexed. The cinematography was just the bomb, the sex was hot, the performers were all attractive (including the men, which, unfortunately, is unusual), and except for the hokey costumes in the final threeway DP scene, it was near perfect. The boy tried out a few harnesses that we got, and a dick that looked promising but did not work at all. Design is nice, but if it doesn't do its job, what good is it?
The cool thing about this year's guide is that it also marks the 1st Annual Tristan's Treasure Chest Contest, where you can enter to win lots of the items mentioned in my guide and more (the grand prize is worth more than $1000!). So, read the guide, then follow the link to the contest at the bottom. And stay tuned because I hope to update my blog almost every day!
