I went straight from Jamaica to LA. The boy and Jordan met me there. So nice to see my boy and our pup-I immediately feel grounded, feel like I'm home. Went straight from LA to Idyllwild. Idyllwild is a small town (population 2000) in the mountains that's about two hours from LA. Daddy W. has been renting a house there for several months because he's been looking at real estate to buy. He's bid on several properties only to have the deals fall through for one reason or another. He's now in escrow on a house, and we got to see it! It's totally, completely amazing. Spectacular views of the mountains from nearly every room. Very private and secluded. An outdoor hot tub. Four fireplaces. It's really awesome! We spent the weekend at his rented place, where we chilled out big time.
We drove back to LA, then everything kicked into high gear. Saw coaching clients, set up meetings, had dinner with Carly and Her Boy, spent the day with Juli Ashton and visited Doc Johnson (read about it in the Cunt Candy Factory column), dinner with Nina and Ernest Greene, more coaching, finished my Voice column, polished up some proposals, had dinner with director Kelly Holland. Friday was breakfast with Brian Gross, lunch with a porn big wig, coaching appointment, meeting with another porn big wig, then home to collapse into bed. Saturday was Julie's Birthday; Happy Birthday Julie! The boy and I drove to Santa Barbara, where we toured D.A.W.G, the no-kill shelter where Lorna volunteers. Then we lunched with Lorna, Kat, Jessica, and Jet. That night, I went with the boy to a celebratory dinner. The dinner gathered together twenty years' worth of residents of one house in Santa Barbara (where the boy lived) to honor the owner/landlady who sold the house to her grandson (who then kicked out all the current tenants). It was lots of fun, and very touching to see all these folks come from as far as New York and Texas to toast this sweet little old lady who had such an impact on all their lives. Sunday, we went to the O.C. to visit the boy's grandparents with his mom. We had dinner with Dr. W. that night at The Standard in Downtown LA. The next morning, we discovered that the two of us, the dog, and all our shit could not fit into Dr. W.'s hot new convertible, so we called a car service and headed to LAX. Finally, after two weeks on the road, I am home!
