I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I've been a busy bee which is why I haven't blogged sooner. Got my hair cut on Wednesday, then had a promising meeting about a promising project that may or may not happen. Thursday, my friend Kathy and her two kids came to visit and we went to the Museum of Natural History. There were about a million people on line outside, and a million more once we finally got in, so it wasn't the most pleasant of experiences. We had fun, it was just exhausting. We had dinner, then they stayed over. I still don't know how she does it by herself. One day with the four year old, and I feel like I need three days off. Kids have a never-ending source of energy, and I am in awe of my friends who are parents.

T and I co-hosted a party at her place for New Year's Eve, and, although B & D returned from San Francisco tired and not wanting to go out, Clyde hurt her back and Julie stayed home to take care of her, J. got the flu so L. was at her bedside, and Helen and Betty had other plans, it was still fun! We ordered Thai food, ate too many of my mom's Christmas cookies, watched The Stepford Wives, and briefly tuned in to Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve to see Ashlee Simpson whine to music, "special guests" Colin Powell and Mayor Bloomberg look stiff, and the crystal ball do its thing. Did anyone else notice how strange the taped celebrity messages to Dick Clark were? While we wish Mr. Clark a speedy recovery, we, of course, started in on the jokes: New Year's Eve is not the same without Dick. One stroke knocked Dick out of commission. I miss Dick, I can't have fun without Dick! I feel Dick's presence even though he's not here. Dick is the best, no one can replace Dick.

I spent the entire weekend working my ass off. You see, the boy returns to me on Tuesday night (after being away for a record 18 days!), but then I leave for Las Vegas Thursday morning. So, my plan has been to finish everything on my enormous to do list, so that we can have quality time for our thirtysomething hours. What does that entail?

I finished my new Village Voice column; it's called "Porn Stars in Love," and it's a profile of Seymore Butts and Mari Possa. They gave me a rare look at their personal life and revealed some pretty specific details about their relationship which most adult film stars just don't do. I'll link to it on the homepage when it goes live next week.

I've also been watching a ton of porn movies directed by Robby D. in preparation for my interview of him in Vegas. I'm interviewing lots of other folks, but have to do the most, um, research on Mr. D. Have you seen Jack's Teen America: Mission 1? I love Teagan Presley, but several things bothered me about her scene in this flick: 1) she looks at the camera so much that I never feel like she's connected at all to the guy who's fucking her; 2) for much of the fucking, she's in an incredibly uncomfortable position, standing up with one leg on a high counter. While it makes for some good angles, it looks too uncomfy to be sexy for me; 3) it seems like there were some wood problems, since the action often stops and Teagan sucks the guys dick, which she does nicely, but it breaks the flow. Robby D's latest is called Contract Star, and I have lots to say about that one, but I'm savin' it for a future column.

I am almost ready to send the Hot Lesbian Erotica manuscript to my publisher, Cleis Press. This is a new collection I am editing which comes out in late spring. I guess the title is pretty self-explanatory: all the stories are scorching sex tales that focus on explicit encounters. They're just as well written as those on Best Lesbian Erotica, they tend to be shorter, juicier, less heady.

I'm getting really fired up about Vegas (and not just because I will hopefully get to see Teagan's ass in the flesh). I bought a dress for the awards that I really like. Lots of folks I wanna see will be there. And the best yet: Jonno of Fleshbot and I have been cooking up something fabulous to collaborate on while in Vegas. It's not finalized yet, but if we cement the plan, it's going to be awesome! Stay tuned to my blog and homepage for details about it once I know if it's a go.
